For Standard Recessed Pot Lights

FGT7-D Recessed Light Draft Stop Cover

The FlameGuard Tech FGT7-D Recessed Light Draft Stop Cover protects recessed pot lights from attic insulation and stops unwanted air leakage through the fixture — a simple upgrade that pays for itself on your energy bill.

Most recessed lights are not designed for direct insulation contact. Once buried under cellulose or fiberglass, fixtures can overheat and start cycling on and off — a malfunction that is both a nuisance and a safety hazard. Pushing the insulation away is not an effective fix: it creates air passages in the building envelope that waste energy year-round.

Made from dense, non-combustible mineral wool (rockwool fiber), the durable dome-shaped cover fully encloses the fixture and keeps combustible material such as blown-in cellulose at a safe distance from the hot light. Because the rigid dome holds its shape, insulation can run continuous and uninterrupted across the whole ceiling — improving airtightness and saving energy without sacrificing safety.

Suitable for most standard recessed pot lights and downlights in insulated ceiling and attic assemblies. The cover arrives fully assembled and fits in seconds from the attic side — simply place the lightweight dome over the fixture. Done.
